Filed in Category Baby Toys

I’m getting induced next wednesday. And I wanna pack my bags and clean my house some more…I would like to do his bottles and toys now just in case I have other stuff to do. How did you sterilize your baby’s things?

    boiling water
good site about sterilize baby bottlehttp://www.wikihow.com/Sterilize-Baby-Bo…
toys you can not take them apart, so be careful about not boiling (just soak it in hot soapy water, make sure all the soap are washed off after) toys too long, plastic and hot water might provide some poison vapour so just quickly rinse it.
for clothing wash it in hot water, and some detergent.
just clean off any chemical that is on the toy, bleach is not recommended.

use only glass bottoms – if plastic gets too hot it is toxic.
imo no need to sterilize – do rinse out bottles right away use hot soapy water to wash them. wash toys etc.
keep things clean ie floors sweep, vacumed, washed. a 24/7 room air cleaner will help your baby breath nice clean air.
keep things needs so dust, dirt does not collect.
i breast feed so had no need to sterilize bottles – today plastic bottles are plentiful and imo not healthy for baby or adult.
congrats on baby – clean your house well now and organize – get rid of what you do not need. things you will need are lots of t-shirts – more then you can imagine – lots of crib sheets – more then you can imagine – sometimes 4 changes a day – and lots of lil blankets.
clean – organize – get rid of clutter. then take a walk – i know you are nervous.

It’s really not hard, you just boil water, and place the items in the water for a minute or so. The boiling water gets rid of bacteria and any harmful chemicals. Just make sure you dry with clean paper towels and then store appropriately. NOTE: Don’t let the toys get too hot or they could melt in the pot or whatever you put the hot water in.

Unless its a premie with a compromised immune system, why are you sterilizing its toys? are you going to raise the baby in a sterilized environment? My mother didnt sterlize any of our things (7 kids), even the bottles only went through the dish washer. We all lived, because the thing is that anything on the toys is already elsewhere in the baby’s environment (your home) and it is already exposed to it anyway. Isnt it just a waste of time?

Stay away from bleach. Often, the less extreme things are the best, and they won’t be toxic for the baby. I like the whole boiling water and dish soap idea. Even the dishwasher for some toys would be fine. If you’re into deep cleaning, a toothbrush will help get into all the crevices.

    Beach and water.
For plastic toys it is 3/4 cup per gallon of water. Also don’t use hot water, just room temperature. Let soak for about 5 minutes or so, and then rinse.
You can do bottles too. 1 Tablespoon per gallon of water. Soak less than 5 minutes. This can be used for pacifiers as well.

sometimes clorox is the best thing to use for baby toys and bottles..it will kill the germs and keep the baby healthy..
(just make sure to get all the clorox off and fully dried before you give them back to your child :) )
    hope this helps :)

I work in day care care and
    bottles: we boil
toys: we wash in a weak bleach solution or spray with a weak bleach solution, then preferably dry in the sun to further kill bacteria
    and CONGRATULATIONS!!!

    Steam cleaning or boiling.
Babies stuff everything in their mouths, I was uncomfortable(and still am) with harsh chemical cleaners.

Putting them in the dish washer if they are plastic and the washing machine if they are stuffed animals.

    Boil them.
Or if you look online at clorox bleach, they have a list of how much bleach to use for certain things like toys and bottles.
