Is Craft Smart Paint Safe To Use On Bird Toys?

Filed in Category Bird Toys

I’m getting a parrotlet in a few weeks and I want to make my own toys and play yard for him. I know that there are lots of things that are toxic for birds. Does anyone know if Craft SMART paint is safe to paint the play yard and toys with? It’s an acrylic craft paint. It does say Waterbase and non-toxic on the back.
Please help!
Oh and while I’m asking… does anyone know if those foam beads are safe? The breeder I am getting my bird from uses them but since they can tear it I’m concerned about choking.
Thanks

l found a web site that posted this:
PLEASE NOTE: FOAM BEADS SHOULD NOT BE USED WITH LARGER BIRDS. MAY BE INGESTED ACCIDENTALLY. ALWAYS USE CAUTION AND SUPERVISE YOUR BIRD IF OFFERING ANY TOY MADE WITH FOAM BEADS. USE COMMON SENSE!!!
l personally wouldn’t us this for any bird !!!
l use food coloring to color wood paint is not good can flake and be digested so it is not a good idea.
lf you still need a paint for your project here is a site to help you find what your looking for (green)
PLEASE READ before using any paints.

No, the only glue safe for birds is elmers wood craft glue. it works great and is totally safe, the only glue that you should use. good luck with you new bird and idk about the foam beads. you might want to ask the breeder. :)

I wouldn’t, just to be safe. All the toys I make are left natural, the birds are okay with them.

    I think they are safe.
If it says non-toxic then it is non-toxic.
Also how small are the foamy beds?
