Where Can I Donate Slightly Used Toys?

Filed in Category Used Toys

I want to teach my daughter to appreciate her toys and about the giving to children that don’t have as much as she does. So we would like to donate her slightly used toys directly to under privileged children. I’m not looking for donating to a store that donates the money. I’m looking for some way for the toys to go directly to the kids. I’m in Va Beach, so around there would be great, but not necessary.

My sister-in-law did this and I could never understand it. Surely these are your daughter’s things, not yours. In effect you are teaching that it is ok to take away possessions owned by people weaker than yourself. I have always doubted the morality of this which is why I encouraged generosity and care in my own children by example rather than enforcement.
So you want to make your small child give her things away to another small child who may not have such a privileged background? You child will feel resentful and the recipient (or the recipients Mom) may feel patronized by your attitude.
    Please reconsider.

do you have a kids hospital around you ? if so call them and find out how to donate the toys to them . I am sure they will appreciate them . I know that my sister does this and she calls the hospital and they tell her what part of the hospital to take them too and she has never had any problem and take your daughter with you if you can . that way she can learn generosity and giving to those less fortunate.

Maybe a home for children that don’t have parents. Or a Children Hospital.
