Why Exactly Is Toxic Paint On Toys Bad For Babies And Children?
Filed in Category Toxic Toys
I’ve got some farm animal toys from argos and they smell really strong. are they still allowed to use toxic paint on toys, it doesn’t say on the package. i don’t know whether to take the risk but surely somewhere like argos wouldn’t sell harmful toys?

if the package has a CE mark on it they are OK for use as they have been tested for harmful products, dangerous mechanisms etc. Under EUROPEAN LAW!!
The packaging should have an indication of what age they are suitable for 0-6mths, 3-5yrs or a symbol, usually a triangle with a baby head in it and an age group they are NOT suitable for eg) 3+ (not suitable for under 3’s)
Paint is rarely an issue in this day and age – but cheap toys from china / hong kong etc u do have to be careful
it is the lead based paint on them. That’s why over ther past year a lot of toys have been recalled. If your baby or child is chewing the toy and the paint comes of they could end up swallowing it. They are not saying it would do any damage it is just a precautionary measure just in case. If you have any problems get in touch with a environmental health agency.
also, about the farm animals, i don’t think the shops would know until they get the recall notices and the they would be taken off the shelves. I would just keep them from your child if you are not sure and try and find out where and how they were made via environmental health. Good Luck
NO you don’t need trading standards they don’t exists you need environmental health department at your local council.. You will find out that Argos and others have QULITEY CONTROL department and they are tested, before being put on sale.
Its bad for them because its toxic..which means poisonous.
I doubt youve come across an item with lead based paint as its generally illegal now I believe but always best to contact the manufacturer if in doubt.
If its from China, its very possible.
And its bad for the very reason you mentioned, its toxic.
I guess you can sale ‘toxic’ paint; Britney Spears wrote a song about it.
it is usually from imported toys painted with lead based paint. If you are worried then get in touch with trading standards office in your town for advice.
“Why is toxic bad?” PLEASE look up the word TOXIC.
